Walk straight from the cottage door to 
tumbling streams,
a woodland waterfall,
a heather moor where birds of prey soar and curlews call,
5,000 year old hill-forts,
a 16th century fortified farmhouse,
a medieval well,
or a remote hill-top lake.
Then come back to a roaring log fire 
and gaze out at the wonderful wildlife
that visits the window-side cottage bird-table.

STUNNING SCENERY!

Whatever kind of landscape you prefer,
there's bound to be something here to please you!
Ryecroft Cottage nestles in the hills 
right inside the Northumberland National Park.
Here's what you'll see here:


Sweeping vistas under a huge sky!
Rough heather moorland fringed with trees,
dotted with prehistoric hill-forts and other archaeological sites
and haunted by the wild cries of curlew.





















The broad valley of the winding River Coquet
where oyster-catchers, wild geese and many waders 
nest amongst the shingle,
surrounded by green sheep pastures where rabbits play all day long.



Woods carpeted with thick cushions of moss,
where the rare red squirrel, owls
and many species of hedgerow birds have their homes.





























CLEAN, COSY AND COMFORTABLE!


Ryecroft Cottage is at least 200 years old.
You'll find some fascinating historical information about it 

in the comprehensive Information File inside the cottage.
It's built in the traditional Northumbrian style,
with thick stone walls, a slate roof
and all one one floor - ideal if you don't like stairs.
The cottage was completely renovated and refurbished to a high standard in 2002


We are lucky to have an excellent cleaner,
who always makes sure the cottage is sparkling clean and fresh for our guests.

Free wifi is available for our guests



THE SPACIOUS LIVING ROOM

Faces south with views over the garden and onto the hills.
There's a sofa with lots of cushions,
two rocking armchairs,
a wooden dining table and chairs.

The centre piece is the open log fire - with a FREE supply of logs!
(But don't worry if lighting a fire doesn't appeal to you.
Ryecroft Cottage also has full oil-fired central heating, included in the price)



The TV has a DVD + CD player.


The Living Room looks out onto a bird table giving close-up view of
woodpeckers, many kinds of tits and finches, nuthatch etc.
We provide nuts for the feeders and a field guide,
to be sure you can identify all your feathered visitors.







THE PRACTICAL, ATTRACTIVE KITCHEN

is nicely fitted out with cottage-style pine units.
The back door opens onto the completely enclosed garden,
so it's only a few steps to carry your meal out to the picnic table on fine days.
The kitchen has plenty of cupboard space and work surface.
It's fully equipped with
electric cooker,
fridge with freezer compartment,
dishwasher, washing machine/ tumble dryer,and microwave.
We've chosen high quality appliances - Miele and Bosch -
to be sure they do their job for you.
There's plenty of cooking equipment, attractive crockery and cutlery.
In case your holiday in the countryside inspires you to be creative,
we even provide recipe books!




THE BATHROOM


We know how important a nice bathroom is when you're on holiday.
The Ryecroft bathroom is fully tiled.
You can either enjoy a relaxing soak in the bath
or refresh yourself with the excellent over-bath shower.
The facilities are completed by a pedestal basin, WC and pine-framed mirror.
We provide towels, and there's an electric towel rail so you can always enjoy them warm and dry.





THE TWO BEDROOMS

both have comfortable, good quality beds,
plump pillows and duvets.
We provide the attractive bed-linen - included in the price.
There are also thick blankets in the wardrobes in case the weather turns cold.



THE MASTER BEDROOM


is a lovely spacious room with king-size pine bed.
(We can provide a cot and high chair on request)

There's plenty of clothes storage space in wardrobe and chest of drawers,
and a dressing table with mirror and stool.
There are bedside lamps
and a hairdryer for your use in the chest of drawers.




THE SECOND BEDROOM



is bright and airy with extra-long twin beds,
a wardrobe with full-length mirror,
chest of drawers and bedside lamp.








OUTSIDE THE COTTAGE

There are secluded, fenced gardens back and front.

Off-road parking for one large or two small cars.

Lockable cycle shed.
